CMIT collaborates with EVNGENCO2 - Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant (1,200 MW)

Recently, CMIT’s team of engineers and technical specialists conducted a site visit and working session at Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (under Power Generation Corporation 2 - EVNGENCO2) to assess system conditions and coordinate technical solutions to improve operational reliability ahead of the 2027 power supply plan.

As electricity demand in Northern Vietnam continues to grow, technical management, preventive maintenance, and generation unit availability remain critical priorities for power producers. During the visit to Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, the CMIT team conducted on-site observations and held detailed technical discussions with the plant's engineering and operations personnel.

The working session focused on reviewing operational requirements, identifying potential technical bottlenecks across the generation process, and aligning collaborative approaches to optimize maintenance strategies and long-term equipment reliability.

Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock Company manages and operates 4 generating units (comprising Hai Phong 1 and Hai Phong 2 thermal power projects) with a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW. The facility serves as a major baseload power generation center in the northern power system.

Beyond supporting national grid stability, the plant plays a vital role in securing a reliable electricity supply for industrial and socioeconomic activities across the Northern key economic triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh. Given the high dispatch demands placed on these units during peak dry-season periods, maintaining optimal technical readiness across all 4 generating units is essential.

During the session, technical representatives from CMIT and Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock Company discussed condition-assessment methodologies and technical risk-mitigation strategies for critical plant assets. Key areas of coordination include:

  • Evaluating the operational status of primary electrical and mechanical systems to support scheduled maintenance and overhaul planning.

  • Discussing diagnostic and condition-monitoring approaches to detect incipient faults early, thereby minimizing unplanned outages during peak generation periods.

  • Establishing a structured technical preparation roadmap to support safe, compliant, and continuous operation for EVNGENCO2’s 2027 power generation targets.

This collaborative engagement underscores CMIT's ongoing technical support for power generation utilities in Vietnam, focusing on practical, evidence-based engineering solutions tailored to site-specific operational constraints.
